Remote Cabin Chinking and Sealing
Remote Cabin Chinking and Sealing
Welcome to this extensive log home maintenance project! This massive undertaking involved a complete exterior overhaul of a remote luxury log cabin. Situated deep in cottage country, this project required specialized logistics and a deep understanding of whole-log expansion and contraction cycles.
Project Overview
The primary objectives included safely removing failing historic chinking that was allowing winter drafts and pests into the home. We needed to media-blast the entire exterior to remove black mold spores without damaging the soft wood, and apply a premium flexible chinking system.

Key Features:
- Environmentally Safe Corn-Cob Blasting
- Borate Wood Preservative Application
- Premium Elastomeric Chinking
- UV-Blocking Clear Coat Sealer
- Rotten Log End Replacement
Project Goals and Objectives:
The goal of this log home project is to create an absolutely weather-tight envelope capable of withstanding harsh Canadian winters without cracking. We carefully analyzed the thermal bridging of the logs and established a comprehensive moisture-barrier plan that effectively seals the entire home while allowing the logs to "breathe".

Functionality
By focusing on these goals and objectives, we aim to deliver a restoration project that not only meets the client's immediate needs but also provides a solid foundation for their long-term enjoyment, safety, and investment value. Our commitment is to create a space that seamlessly integrates form and function.
